Concrete Mathematical Understanding
In Montessori education, arithmetic begins with tangible objects before moving to written symbols. These colourful wooden counting rods provide a sensory foundation for understanding quantity, addition, subtraction, and pattern recognition.
Key Developmental Benefits
- Early Numeracy & Quantity Concept: Helps children associate abstract numbers with tangible physical quantities through one-to-one correspondence.
- Colour Recognition & Sorting: Vibrant colours encourage sorting by shade, pattern building, and logical grouping.
- Fine Motor Development: Picking up, aligning, and arranging slender rods refines the pincer grasp and precision finger control.
- Geometric Exploration: Children can assemble 2D shapes such as squares, triangles, and creative geometric outlines.
